Life Membership Award

Nominee must be an active member of TAAE and have had made major contributions to alternative education and/or TAAE. (Nominations for this award will be considered by the Executive Board of Directors of TAAE)

Alternative Educator of the Year

Nominee shall be a teacher, counselor, or member of support staff who has made an outstanding contribution to your school and/or students.

Alternative Education Administrator of the Year

Nominee shall be a principal or assistant principal who has made an outstanding contribution to your school and/or students.

Friend of Alternative Education

Nominee shall have made a significant contribution to alternative education. (Please see Points to Consider for special criteria for this award.)

Points to consider in your nomination for the TAAE Life Membership Award, Alternative Educator of the Year, Alternative Administrator of the Year Awards

INFORMATION FROM EACH NOMINATOR (Required): As you write your nomination essay, please consider and address the following characteristics of your nominee:

Initiative: How has this candidate initiated new trends in his/her school, district, teaching field, etc? What evidence is there of forward thinking?
Foresight: How does the candidate show evidence of being proactive towards potential problem areas in education–either general education or alternative education?
Major Contribution (s): How is this candidate active in making contributions that affect students’ lives? (Such as starting new programs, improving existing programs, advocacy for students, etc.)
Community Connection and Support: How does the candidate show evidence of being a part of the educational community as well as the community in which he/she works? How does the candidate show his/her support for these communities as well as receive it?
